Lance Corporal Ryan J. kovacicek

Marine Lance Corporal Ryan J. Kovacicek, 22, of Washington, PA lost his life in combat with the enemy in Hit, Iraq on Sunday, July 10, 2005.  He was born on April 28, 1983, the son of Judi and Joseph Kovacicek, Jr.  He had joined the Marines Reserves in 2003, was activated January 3, 2005, and deployed.

He was a graduate of Bishop Canevin High School where he was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America.  He started playing hockey with the Southpointe Rink Rats and continued playing at Bishop Canevin High School.  He was attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he was majoring in criminology and played club hockey.

His passions included golf, skiing, hockey, and making people laugh.  Ryan could light up a room with his contagious smile.  His quick wit was his trademark.  He had the ability to make friends with everyone he met.  He was known by all as "Kov".  We are so proud of his unselfish dedication and bravery.

His memory will remain forever.
